A building as imposing and magnificent as the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin stands here, but its true identity is none other than a closed school? Who are the homeowners who renovated this abandoned school and revived it into their own space? Their identities are none other than Kim Kimi, the daughter of first-generation folk singer Eun-hee, and her husband, Lee Jun-hyeop. Although they lived as free spirits in their youth, the couple decided to return to be with their parents, whom they still cherish, before it was too late. This house, created by renovating a closed school, began to be revived through the couple's touch. In 1999, the mother, Eun-hee, purchased a closed elementary school and transformed it into a home for students' families as well as a natural dyeing workshop. About 20 years later, her daughter, Kimi, and son-in-law, Jun-hyeop, returned to this space. Their goal was to revive the dying space, which had become too physically demanding for her aging parents to maintain. They repaired the sunken classroom floors by stitching them together with plywood and installed a new chimney on the old stove to keep the house warm. Above the window, which was cut at the mother Eun-hee's eye level, they even installed a shelf at the height of her daughter Kimi's arm. The most special space among them is the indoor swimming pool, which the mother, Eun-hee—a former Galot designer—created to escape the midsummer heat. Having always worked on natural dyeing under the strong sunlight, the mother Eun-hee would cool off in this pool every summer. Unlike her mother, who loved the swimming pool, her daughter Kimi preferred spending time in the small bathroom. It was the only space where she could be alone in a house that was always bustling with her mother and father's students. However, when Kimi and her husband Jun-hyeop returned to this place, the most dilapidated area was actually the main building, which her mother Eun-hee had newly constructed 20 years ago.
