Finding out I have a rare cancer at 21 // my backstory and surgery (amputation)
In September 2023 I was told that, at 20 years old, I have a rare malignant "cancerous" sarcoma (tumor) on the bottom of my left foot. By October 2023, I was in surgery (the day after my 21st birthday) to remove it as well as part of my foot*. This has been a wild time for me physically, mentally, and emotionally, but I have been letting the doctors, my prayers, and the support from my loved ones lead the way. Through all the test results, being told I will be an amputee, and the physical pain that comes with that I am learning that going with the flow is always easier than not accepting it. This is my reality right now. It is just an aspect of the really exciting identity I am forming at 21 on. subscribe to continue following this journey in my 20s with me:) share this video in case it reaches others who are in similar situations *I get a lot of questions about my amputation. It is called a ray amputation and removed the toes and the bones that go through the foot. You will here me say "foot" or "toes" interchangeably because it is an invasive surgery that altered the shape, size, and (a few) functions of my foot so it is much more than just losing a toe here and there. Obviously this isn't to try to exaggerate my situation, but is more to share more honestly how it has impacted me :) instagram: isabel.peirce
