Power plants like this are fading away, along with the knowledge of machinery such as steam turbine draft fans and analog coal stoker controls. In this video we look at the 1950s era equipment in the Virginia public utilities power plant in Minnesota. This plant operates two modern Cleaver brooks scotch boilers that supply heating steam to the city but the old steam turbine generators and coal fired boilers sit un-used. In this video we are going to explore the details of how this steam plant used to work.
