This time we'll be climbing Mt. Tado, which towers over the border between Mie and Gifu prefectures. Mt. Tado is a very popular mountain, and on this day, many people were enjoying hiking. The summit is well maintained, making it a relaxing spot. The history of such a beloved mountain is very fascinating. A white sacred horse is enshrined at Tado Taisha Shrine at the foot of the mountain. It is said that long ago, a white horse quietly watched over people's lives from Mt. Tado. It is believed that the horse then galloped off to the gods, and will once again descend bearing the people's happiness. It's a very fairytale-like mountain. On this day, we took the climb on a course for those with good stamina. You can get a great view of Nagoya city from the summit. We also strolled around the area near the peak and stopped by Maru Shige, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop at the base. Then we visited Tado Taisha Shrine.
