Every Plumber’s Nightmare… Designer Radiators!

Welcome back to the channel today’s video I’m gonna be installing a designer radiator that we previously first fix for in a video awhile back if you want to figure out and watch how to pre-plump a radiator with pipes coming up the floor then I’ll leave a link down below and you can check that one out. In theory what we need to do is set out some brackets and install some radiator valves put the radio on the wall and it up now designer radiators are a pain because the measurements have to be perfect. You’ve only got a certain amount of areas and spots where to drill and to screw if they go in the wrong place, then holes can be seen and it can make the job 10 times harder. The way I marked this one out was because we have feet which is a good plus because this radiator weighs over 60 kg was to measure of the floor after putting the feet on and placing the bracket in place level and measuring the distance between the floor and the bottom or the top of the bracket. With this measurement I can use it as well as the pipe centres between the valves after putting them on market at the floor getting my centrepoint and then marking it out ready for the brackets. I put these brackets in from the end as it makes them less visible but still able to hold what it needs to and I decided to use some screws from Cora fix which are very good for dot and dab walls with a void. They have a metal in which takes up the gap and when you screw the brackets tight, it doesn’t cause the plasterboard to cave in. I do use fixing from bull fix but because I wanted the holes as small as possible, these are a very good option. I used a laser level from huepar allowed me to measure up the brackets on the wall perfectly without drawing loads of lines, the walls been painted decorated and the last thing my customer needs is to see some unwanted pencil marks all over their wall. once I was happy with the placement of the brackets I then lifted it into place with the customer as I wasn’t able to do it on my own hang it on the brackets and have all the weight supported on the feet without the radiator rattling All that’s left to do now is to connect up the radiator pipes onto our new valves and I decided to try and leave the system as full as possible so I turned off the boiler and open up a drain point without opening any air vents this causes a vacuum in the system and using the kit from. Derblaue I can work with even some small dribbles coming from the pipework without getting a single drop on the floor. There’s a reason why as plumbers hate designer radiators we have to get the measurement spot on we have to hope that we get a good fixing in the wall and also the pipes are perfectly in place ready to go on the radiator in the valves looking as square and level as possible.
