1964 "Pep Squad in Action" John Muir High School, Pasadena

This 33 minute 16mm film chronicles our school's Pep Squad during the 1963-1964 season. Song Girls, Flag Girls, Cheerleaders & Card Stunts! This was the final year with graduating students from La Canada. During the filming, Birmingham was bombed, President Kennedy was killed and the Beatles appeared. Thanks to Patti C, Lane H & everyone who was there. Shot with my Bolex Rex-1 on TRI-X film, with examples of stop motion animation (Jim Danforth puppets), rear projection, a traveling wipe and an in-camera panning double exposure. A voice track for the animated knight was performed live, but the script is lost. If you're in the film, invite your kids to see the real "Happy Days."
