Come Join me Kayaking on Relaxing Lazy River

Here's a peaceful kayak trip on the Wallkill river at the New York/ New Jersey border. Its a beautiful area with farmland and deeper woods. Most of the ride is within the Wallkill National Preserve. This river runs North from Sparta NJ area up to Kingston NY where it eventually empties into the Hudson River which runs south :) This river was known by the Algonquin Indians as the Twischsawkin meaning land where plums abound and at least three historic sites have been discovered on its banks! Eventually the Dutch settlers came and it became known as the Waal river. The Muscrat and beaver war fought over this river and the drowned lands of the Wallkill. A fight between millers and farmers. The farmers eventually won and built the cheechunk canal lowering the water table to farm what is now known as the Black Dirt region. Mostly known for its onion crops, today it produces a variety of vegetables. This river is a beautiful river. A few weeks ago my son pondered who else was on this river.
