We Investigated the USS New Jersey...We Weren't Alone

USS New Jersey (BB-62) is one of the most famous battleships in history—but it’s also known for reported ghost activity and unexplained experiences. In this haunted battleship paranormal investigation, we spent five hours exploring the ship after dark, focusing on the areas where visitors and crew have described the most activity. This episode follows our time aboard the USS New Jersey, an Iowa-class battleship nicknamed the “Black Dragon,” as we investigate two specific locations tied to real individuals. In Turret One, we reflect on Seaman Apprentice Robert Herman Oesterwind, who was killed in action during the Korean War—the only crew member in the ship’s history to die in combat aboard her. In another part of the ship, activity is often associated with Boatswain’s Mate Seaman James Fox, particularly around the dumbwaiter where his story is most often told.
