Royal Skousen, "The Original and Printer's Manuscripts" (Book of Mormon lecture, 1 of 3)

Royal Skousen, "The Original and Printer's Manuscripts" (Book of Mormon lecture, 1 of 3), February 26, 2013. In 2013 the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies sponsored three illustrated lectures by Brigham Young University Professor Royal Skousen called "25 Years of Research: What We Have Learned About the Book of Mormon Text." Professor Skousen has spent a full quarter of a century studying the original and printer's manuscripts of the Book of Mormon. Since 1988 he has followed every stroke of the scribal pen to uncover as near as possible the earliest text for the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project. In 2001, he published the first two volumes of the project, which consist of typographical facsimiles of the original and printer's manuscripts of the Book of Mormon. This lecture discusses the work which produced these priceless volumes. Skousen is introduced by the LDS Church's assistant historian Richard Turley. Skousen is Professor of Linguistics and English Language at Brigham Young University. The lecture series is sponsored by the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies, the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship, and L. Tom Perry Special Collections at the Harold B. Lee Library.
