Driver Throws Gun, Flees at 130 MPH, Then Crashes Head-On Into Semi
An Arkansas State Police traffic stop quickly escalated into a dangerous high-speed pursuit after a trooper noticed a vehicle displaying a fictitious license plate that did not match registration records. During the stop, the trooper observed an object thrown from the passenger-side window. After approaching the vehicle, he located a Ruger LC9s pistol in the grass along the interstate. As the trooper began initiating a felony traffic stop, the driver suddenly fled. According to the arrest report, the suspect accelerated to speeds exceeding **130 MPH**, weaving through traffic, passing vehicles on both shoulders, and creating a substantial danger to other motorists. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 55, where the driver narrowly missed a pedestrian standing near disabled vehicles before exiting the interstate at high speed. Authorities say the driver nearly collided with an SUV while attempting to re-enter the interstate, lost control, turned the wrong way onto the interstate, and accelerated directly into oncoming traffic. Moments later, the vehicle crashed head-on into a semi-truck before being pushed backward into an Arkansas State Police patrol vehicle, disabling all three vehicles. The driver, identified as **Ronnie Hudson**, was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with complaints of chest pain before being booked into the Crittenden County Jail. Investigators recovered the firearm that had been thrown from the vehicle and determined the Honda was displaying a fictitious tag. Hudson now faces numerous felony charges, including felony fleeing, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by certain persons, tampering with physical evidence, unauthorized use of property, first-degree criminal mischief, and several additional traffic-related offenses.
