Lalehzar was a symbol of modernity and Iranian art during the late Qajar period of Ahmad Shah Qajar and the early Pahlavi period and was called the "Champs Elysees of Tehran". Many famous Iranian theaters, restaurants, shops, nightclubs, cup shops, tailors, cinemas and shops were located on this street. Bazaar alley music was also born in this area.
