Rentenreform nimmt Form an: Das sind die Pläne der Regierung
The German pension system is on the verge of collapse: Fewer and fewer young people have to finance a growing number of pensioners. To solve this pressing financing problem and secure pensions in the long term, a commission of experts worked for over five months on reform proposals. This morning, the 80-page document containing a total of 33 proposals was presented to the federal government. Federal Labor Minister Bärbel Bas described the result as a "complete work of art" that even Chancellor Friedrich Merz does not intend to change. Merz emphasized the necessity of implementing all elements of the reform package quickly and completely, as they form a coherent overall concept. Among the key spending cuts are the abolition of early retirement at 63 and the reintroduction of the sustainability factor, which is intended to slow the increase in pensions. One of the most controversial measures is the gradual increase in the retirement age. This would mean that today's 30-year-olds might have to work until 68, and four-year-olds even until 70, to receive their pension. At the same time, the pension fund's revenues are to be increased: In the future, civil servants, some self-employed individuals, and politicians could also contribute. The abolition of contribution-free mini-jobs is also planned. Another pillar of the reform is the introduction of a capital market-based pension, in which portions of pension contributions are to be invested in the stock market to stabilize and increase the pension level in the long term. Although the opposition is skeptical and these measures are expected to spark extensive debate in the Bundestag, Federal Labor Minister Bas aims to begin the first legislative work before the end of the year. The real work of drafting the legislation now begins, in order to transform the commission's proposals into a comprehensive legislative package. :newstime on Joyn ▶️ https://url.joyn.de/newstime/description :newstime on the web ▶️ https://www.newstime.joyn.de :newstime on Instagram ▶️ / newstime.digital For more current news, subscribe to our :newstime channel ▶️ https://bit.ly/3Cox8d3 Your :newstime team from ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabel Eins ______________________________________________________ Legal notice: https://video.prosieben.de/service/im...
