But reality slapped me again. By moving furniture again, my father proved that all that gym nonsense wasn't enough. True strength doesn't come from lifting weights in an air-conditioned gym. It comes from chopping wood, building with your hands, and working under the scorching sun. That strength is raw and real; you can't buy it with steroids or workout routines. It's the strength that allows you to survive, that takes you beyond pain and exhaustion. Yes, the guy at the gym can lift heavy weights, but put him on a construction site and you'll see him break. Swollen muscles are no match for the endurance and strength of a manual laborer, who builds day after day, year after year. Those skinny, fat-weary men, those older men who've never seen the inside of a gym, outperform you in the real world. Gym strength is for aesthetes. Real-life strength is for survivors. So choose wisely what kind of strength you desire.
