Mamertine Prison - Part 3 of 3 - Going down to the jail
The Mamertine Prison, also known as the Tullianum, is located adjacent to the Roman Forum where the Apostles Peter and Paul were imprisoned before being taken to their deaths. Part 3. We walk down toward the jail where the Apostles Peter and Paul were imprisoned. Our guide describes the properties of the rock, tufa rock that is a soft volcanic stone at the entrance and we then walk further below to see the place the actual jail and the place of the column where both Apostles were in chains. Our guide tells us the story that the Apostles converted and baptized their guards and another 47prisoners with water that miraculously erupted.
