But even here, military personnel face a problem: many of them, especially those who dedicated decades to military service, find it very difficult to socialize in civilian life. I spoke with reserve officers, including colonels, who, at the height of their military careers, left for civilian life because they realized that finding their place after retirement would be more difficult, and living on state pensions would be virtually impossible. May 7 is Defender of the Fatherland Day in Kazakhstan. This day was chosen because it was on this day in 1992 that the decree establishing the National Armed Forces of Independent Kazakhstan was signed. The role of a strong and combat-ready army for a state, especially in today's reality, is difficult to overestimate.
