According to research, the average slope a passenger car can climb is 17.7°, but this slope is apparently at least 20° to 25°. I think a manual car would have been able to make it, but it seems reckless to climb that hill in an automatic... Now, let me answer the comments. "Wouldn't you have just applied the parking brake?" " The car we were riding in had an electric parking brake, not a handbrake. So it wasn't the type that you pull violently. Apparently, Tinkerbell pulled it multiple times in the passenger seat, but it didn't seem to respond at all. Apparently, it only responds if you hold it down for 3-5 seconds while driving, but if the car had suddenly stopped at that speed, the force would have caused it to roll back down or slide upside down, which I think would have been even more dangerous... After researching, I found that apparently, if you were going 50km/h up that steep slope, the brakes wouldn't respond to human force. "First of all, drive in S gear on steep slopes." I'd learned that S gear should be used when going down steep slopes, but I didn't know it should also be used when going uphill, so thank you for letting me know. However, Honda's S gear is fixed in second gear and cannot be lowered to first gear, so it turned out that driving up such a steep slope was dangerous even in S gear...and it was a mistake to even go up that slope in the first place.
