Vegas Built a River Inside Luxor, Then Covered It Up

On the Las Vegas Strip, there’s a hotel shaped like a pyramid called the Luxor. In 1993, inside that pyramid, they built an indoor boat ride called the Nile River Ride. An actual river, staffed by tour guides, cutting through the heart of a billion-dollar casino. And above it all, the Luxor beam, that light shooting out of the pyramid, turning the whole building into a landmark. Today, the water is gone, and Luxor would love you to believe it was never there, but the building still hides the evidence, and if you know where to look, the scars are still there. In 2026, I’m going to show you where the Nile still “exists” under the casino floor. In this video, we rewind to the early-90s “Vegas builds worlds” era and break down why Luxor ever had a boat ride inside a casino, why it disappeared, and what replaced it once the Strip pivoted away from family theme-park energy and back toward what makes them money. We also walk Luxor in 2026 and trace the river’s old path using the building’s leftover geometry, the bends, the spacing, and the layout choices that still don’t make sense unless you know what used to be there. And yes, we talk about the haunted rumors too, what people claim, why those stories stick, and why Vegas loves an attraction that feels like a fever dream.
