Dragon in the Mirror - Resin Art DRAGONFLY with Holographic wings in a 3D printed form.

When I saw artists playing with window film in their resin art, and the effect it gave, my first thought was DRAGONFLY wings. It took me a while to get round to making some and I've had fun experimenting and learning how to best use the film, but I thought it was finally time to give it a shot. I 3D Printed the wing outlines and reused a body design that i'd made a few months back. I tweaked some of the features and printed everything out as big as I could. I stuck the parts down using resin so that there would be no leaks and then filled them with more resin once cured. The wings I kept transparent and the body I colored with Rezin Arte pigments from Colourarte. The resin brand used is Total Boat. Tish from Naptime Creations has created huge sheets of resin using this window film method and it looks great against a window. However I didn't want this to be a window hanging and so I thought if I placed it on a mirror the light would reflect off and be as good as a window. This channel is all about wall art and I wanted to stick to that. The finished resin artwork looks great but is really hard to photograph as when the wings do their holographic thing the light source also reflects off the mirror and the camera hates that. So I just took lots of photos and hopefully you can see the effect well enough to get some idea of how cool it looks. Thats enough from me.
