Improved Power Ant | Northern Angler Fly Tying Tutorial

In this tutorial, Matt ties an improved version of the classic Power Ant. With just a few tweaks, you'll have a high floating ant that summertime trout love! The original Power Ant has been a favorite terrestrial pattern for years. In the low and clear flows of summer, trout are often wary and suspicious of large, loud flies like the Chubby Chernobyl. The Power Ant, with its high contrast and wiggling legs, is a great match for our flying ants. Unfortunately, it tends to sink after a few fish—something that has frustrated us for years.
