Lush Gift Sets are Expensive so I Made My Own (includes soap, candles, and more!)
Gifting friends and family feels great, but it gets costly very quickly! Take Lush, for example. It would cost around $600 for me to give 12 custom Lush gift sets away! I like my friends, but I don’t like them that much 👀 That’s why I set myself on a mission to design and create my very own bath and body kit, making sure to include all the essentials: a bath bomb, a bubble bar, a candle, and a bar of soap. But is this a fruitless endeavour? Will I save any money at all? In a large bowl, sift and combine baking soda, 17 g cream of tartar, and 17 g SLSA. Mix well, then add 12 g wets. Mix well, then add sparkly diamond mica and titanium dioxide. Divide 65 g of this mix into another bowl and add teal mica. In another bowl, sift and combine coloured baking soda, 4 g cream of tartar, and 4 g SLSA. Add rest of wets and whisk well. Add 175 g citric acid to white batch, 38 g to teal batch, and 38 g to deep blue batch. Mix well in each batch. Using a 3" snowflake mold, layer 2 tbsp white mix. Gently flatten, then sprinkle lines of blue mixes. Cover with 3 tbsp white mix and press gently until flat and compressed. Leave in mold for at least three days or until the top is dried before removing. Dry outside of mold for another week. In a filled bath, gently rest the bath bomb on top of the water so the design faces up. Will make 6x85 g bath bombs. 🍬Candy Cane Lane | Bubble Bar🍬 Dry: 350 g baking soda 150 g cornstarch 150 g cream of tartar 120 g SLSA 80 g colloidal oatmeal 1 tsp sparkly diamond mica 0.5 tsp red mica 0.5 tsp green mica 0.5 tsp titanium dioxide Wet: 500 g water 16 g Polysorbate 80 10 g minty vanilla fragrance 5 g vanilla fragrance 60 drops peppermint oil Method: Create two batches of wet ingredients: batch 1 will contain 400 g water, 8 g Polysorbate 80, 30 drops peppermint oil, sparkly diamonds mica, and titanium dioxide. Batch 2 will contain 380 g water, 8 g Polysorbate 80, 30 drops peppermint oil, and the two fragrances. Create two batches of dry ingredients: batch A will contain 185 g baking soda, 80 g cornstarch, 80 g cream of tartar, and 80 g SLSA. Batch B will contain 165 g baking soda, 70 g cornstarch, 70 g cream of tartar, 40 g SLSA, and the colloidal oatmeal. Combine batch 1 with batch A and mix well, working with it and adding extra water or baking soda until it's the consistency of chocolate chip cookie dough. Do the same with batch 2 and B. Divide batch 2B in half. Add red mica to one half and green mica to other half and mix well. On a non-stick sheet, place half of the white dough and flatten. Flatten green dough on top leaving around 1 cm around the edges. Do the same with the rest of the white dough and the red dough. Using a rolling pin and a non-stick sheet, flatten the dough into a rectangle shape. The longer the rectangle, the thinner and more spiraled it will look on the inside. Gently roll into a log and cut into 6 pieces. Fix any cracks using a bit of water and gently rubbing them away. Store in a dry, dark place and dry for at least a week. Makes 6x140 g bubble bars. 🔥Holiday | Candle🔥 Materials: 500 g soy wax 50 g wintery fragrance 2 red dye chips 2 green dye chips 0.25 tsp red mica 0.25 tsp green mica Method: Prepare 6x4oz mason jars with wicks. Melt 250 g soy wax to 80°C. Add green dye chips, green mica, and 25 g fragrance. Stir gently and cool to 60°C, then pour 40 g into each jar. Let layer cool completely, then repeat but with the rest of the wax, fragrance, red dye chips, and red mica. Makes 6x200 g candles. 🟣Frosted Plum | Cold Processed Soap🟣 Big thanks to Katie Carson from Royalty Soaps for providing her amazing soap recipe, free for everyone to use! 🛢️ Oils (total weight is 411g or 14.5oz each 1/4 batch): • 40% Olive Oil • 30% Coconut Oil • 20% Palm Oil • 5% Sweet Almond Oil • 5% Castor Oil ☠️ Other Stuff: • 2:1 Water to Lye Ratio (I replaced the water with a Starbucks café latté) • 6% Fragrance (max of total soap weight) • 5% Superfat ____________🎵Music🎵____________ Pixabay YouTube Audio Source Audio - "Less Grill, More Chill" by Heston Mimms, Imuno
