The history of this unit dates back to the legendary 1st Fighter Aviation Regiment "Warszawa," whose pilots formed the elite of Polish military aviation for decades. In 1989, the first MiG-29 fighters appeared at the airfield near Mińsk Mazowiecki – aircraft that became a symbol of Polish air defense for many years. It was from this base that pilots on NATO combat duty, participating in Air Policing missions and international exercises, took off numerous times. Today, the "Star Squadron" is undergoing a historic transformation. After saying goodbye to the legendary MiG-29s, which for over three decades were the heart of the unit, the base is opening a new chapter related to the Korean FA-50 light combat fighters. It is a symbol of changing times, but of unchanging values: professionalism and operational readiness.
