Toyota Hilux. How do you determine which has been the best in its history… when for over 50 years it has built a reputation almost impossible to match? For many, it remains the quintessential indestructible pickup truck. The Hilux was born to work and survive in any corner of the planet. It was simple, tough, and easy to repair. We saw it in mines, on African expeditions, as an agricultural vehicle in Latin America and Australia, and even as a military pickup in the famous ‘Toyota War’. Today, however, evolution, regulations, and market demands have made it more civilized… but also more complex. And many enthusiasts admit it: ‘Yes, it’s still good… but it’s not the Hilux of the past.’ That’s why today I don’t want to do another ranking.
