Little Trees Series - Episode 1
For those that are familiar with Mr. Che, you know he loves to grow and work on large penjing. In this series, we're looking to showcase some of his smaller works. For all the bonsai folks out there, these would be the Shohin size of bonsai. In penjing, there isn't a formal name (that I know of) to reference these smaller trees since they would still be refer to as penjing. Mr. Che calls them 小品, which roughly translate to "small product". On this episode 1, we are featuring a Chinese Elm. Mr. Che calls this one a drifting cascade for the tree style. This little guy was actually grown from roots from another larger Chinese Elm. When Mr. Che was doing root clean up and maintenance on the larger tree, he would often times take the discarded root and plant it. This one is a result of those root scraps. This little guy is roughly 7-8 years old. Join in on this series as we work on more "small product" to share. Mr. Che got Cindy a display shelf just for these small penjing. We're going to work on filling each of the spaces with our little trees in this series. Check back in with us for new episodes on our Little Tree Series.
