Her Story, Uncut: Deka's Story
Odley Jean of the GoodCapp Arts Ensemble shares 'Deka's' story during Equality Now's 2016 'Make Equality Reality' gala. Deka, a 16-year-old girl from Brooklyn, was subjected to female genital mutilation (FGM) while visiting relatives on a family vacation in Somalia. She becomes one of the over 500,000 girls impacted by FGM in the USA. Deka's story is one of the pieces from 'Her Story, Uncut' - written and directed by Katie Cappiello. www.KatieCappiello.com
