Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad bassist and singer/songwriter, James Searl, talks dub with Agent Jay of The Slackers. As the first installment of a series exploring the art and science of dub reggae. Searl and Agent Jay discuss their new collaboration, "Stop Fighting (Memorial Dub)" and explore some of the nuances in Jamaican culture that translate into the music itself (ie. many things are repurposed in Jamaica, sometimes including analog tape, hence the truly unique sound on some recordings). They also discuss recording techniques...“it's 99% preparation and 1% imagination….you can do something on the fly if you’ve done it a hundred times before.” At various points they reference the defining role of Hopeton Overton Brown a.k.a.
