In twenty-one days, I was in Kailash. I took in every ounce of what's on that mountain, you wouldn't believe it. In two and a half hours, I became about ten to fifteen years younger than I was then. High above the windswept plateaus of western Tibet, rises a mountain so steeply sculpted, it seems almost unreal. Standing at 6,638 meters, Mount Kailash has challenged climbers, mesmerized pilgrims, and mystified explorers for centuries. Yet, it is much more than a sacred peak. It has a nearly perfect pyramidal shape, very sharp ridges, and a distinct appearance. Ancient traditions consider it the axis of the universe. For decades, scientists, monks, and adventurers alike have flocked to its base in awe.
