For five years, people met in the city center in front of the monument to Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko. Every month, both Poles and refugees from Belarus publicly showed their support for political prisoners and did not allow them to be forgotten. Andrzej Poczobut was the face of the persecuted. At the end of April, a breakthrough occurred: as a result of a prisoner exchange, the journalist and activist for the Polish minority in Belarus regained his freedom. Although exhausted by the labor camp, he did not lose heart and recently personally thanked the residents of Białystok for their support. This meeting brought immense joy and the awareness that Andrzej's freedom was a battle won, but for many, it is still not the end of the road.
