Who is the Antichrist? In this letter, John warns us against the anti-Christian teachers already in the world and tells us how to recognize them so as not to be deceived. We will also look at some characteristics of the Antichrist. ii THE ANTICHRIST. a He will be a man. (i) Daniel 7:24-25. b He will negotiate and confirm a 7-year peace treaty between Israelites and Arabs. (i) Daniel 9:27. c He will arise from a union of European countries, and the presidents or prime ministers will give him total power. (i) Daniel 7:24, Revelation 17:12-13. d His 10-nation kingdom will merge into a global kingdom or government. (i) Daniel 7:1-8, Revelation 13:1-3. e He will use promises of "peace" as his main weapon. (i) Daniel 8:25. f He will be promoted by a fellow miracle worker, referred to in the Bible as the False Prophet. (i) Revelation 13:11-14. g He will apparently have superhuman powers. For a time, he will lose them and then regain them. (i) Revelation 17:8. h He will be preceded by seven kings. He will be the eighth king. (i) Revelation 17:10-11. i He will apparently be a very eloquent and convincing person. (i) Daniel 7:20, 8:23. j Three and a half years after the confirmation of the peace pact he negotiated, this leader, the Antichrist, will sit in the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem claiming to be "God." (i) Daniel 7:8, 8:23. l He will persecute people who do not want to worship him as God. (i) Daniel 11:31. o He will attempt to change times and laws (especially those of Israel). (i) Daniel 7:25. p He will have no love for women. (i) Daniel 11:37. q The number that will represent him in some way will be 666. (i) Revelation 13:18. r He, his armies, and his kingdom will be destroyed by Jesus himself at Armageddon.
