Magazine Dreams (2025) – The Loneliness Behind the Muscle | Star Explains: Plot Summary & Analysis
Hey hey, welcome back to Star Explains! Today, we're getting into Magazine Dreams, a film that’s intense, emotional, and definitely not your typical underdog story. Starring Jonathan Majors as Killian Maddox — a bodybuilder with big dreams and even bigger struggles — the movie dives deep into themes like toxic masculinity, mental health, and what happens when the need to be seen starts to eat you alive. Directed by Elijah Bynum (Hot Summer Nights), the film had a strong premiere at Sundance back in 2023. But things hit a major pause when Jonathan Majors ran into serious legal trouble. After being convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment, the movie was dropped by its original distributor. For a while, it looked like Magazine Dreams might not see the light of day. But just like Killian in the gym — it kept pushing through. Eventually, Briarcliff Entertainment picked it up, and it finally released in March 21, 2025 My birthday!!!!
