This letter contains a wealth of personal information about Paul's life that is not found in any other New Testament epistle. His epistle, however, plainly explains God's purpose for His people to contribute to others in chapters 8 and 9. Paul began by focusing on the generous example of the Macedonian churches, which were mostly Gentile in nature and provided to their Jewish Christian brothers and sisters in Jerusalem. Then he pushed the Corinthian believers to contribute to the mission in Jerusalem.
