A peaceful and beautiful day in the African village… This episode starts with the second son splitting firewood for cooking while their father takes his afternoon medication and rests. Later, mama returns from the village market with two big bags of cassava, some unripe plantains and beans. Immediately the whole family joins hands – they begin peeling the cassava to start the traditional fermentation process for fufu / akpu / garri. While the first son fetches clean water for fermentation, the second son prepares the evening meal – porridge plantain and beans cooked on firewood. By the time the cassava is washed, prepared and soaked in a big container for fermentation, night has already fallen – and the children enjoy their meal before sleeping. This is real African family teamwork.
