Mario Amorós sobre prófugo detenido por el asesinato de Víctor Jara: "Se comportó de manera brutal"

Last Saturday, retired military officer Nelson Haase Mazzei, the last person convicted and still at large for the kidnapping and murder of singer-songwriter Víctor Jara and the Director General of Prisons, Littré Quiroga, was arrested by agents of the Investigative Police (PDI). On Línea Uno, we spoke with Spanish historian and journalist Mario Amorós, author of "Life is Eternal," a biography of Víctor Jara, who commented on the impact of Haase's arrest. Regarding the significance of this development in the case, the journalist stated that "nothing can repair the pain caused, nothing can repair so many difficult years of struggle for memory and justice, but I believe it is also significant." Along those lines, Amorós compared the situation to the history of Spain where "no repressor from the Franco dictatorship has even been investigated, let alone convicted or in jail. So, coming from a country where impunity reigns, I value it quite a lot."
