[𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘] STARVED DOGS: COURT ORDER OBTAINED TO ENTER PREMISES IN WINDSOR PARK Earlier today, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA obtained a court order from the Kuilsriver Magistrates Court to enter a property in Windsor Park. This followed non-compliance from the property owner and our Inspector being denied access to inspect the animals and their living conditions. From what the Inspector could see from outside the property, the dogs were in a poor state and being starved/underfed. In terms of Section 8(1)(a) of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962, an Inspector of the SPCA has the right to obtain a court order to enter any premises when the Inspector is unable to obtain consent/permission from the owner or occupier to enter such property to examine the animals and their living conditions. We will never leave an animal to suffer. Whenever a person exercises their constitutional right to deny our Inspectors access to their property, we will exercise our rights in terms of the Animals Protection Act to obtain a court order to enter any such premises to do our work.
