Consultation Toward EMDR Certification as an Indispensable Bridge: Because Foundation Is Not Fluency

Most EMDR therapists complete Basic Training and assume the rest is optional. Far too few are told that structured consultation is the bridge from trained to fluent. And that matters. Basic Training is the foundation. Fluency is something else. Fluency is built in the long, careful process of learning how to think in EMDR rather than recite it. In this video, I talk about why I get concerned (really concerned!) when EMDR therapists skip or delay consultation, what tends to go wrong when they do, and what a strong consultation experience needs to provide. If you are walking out of Basic Training and wondering what comes next, deep into your work toward EMDR Certification, or a seasoned clinician who hasn’t yet had the benefit of supportive mentorship, this one is for you.
