It was 1979 and disco was in its prime. Larry Himmel and photojournalist Tom Zizzi set out to explore San Diego nightlife. Five nights and five of the hottest clubs in town—that was their assignment! Mission Valley was the place to see and be seen back then so four of the clubs were there. One in Point Loma. If the disco wasn’t your scene, there were other options. When these stories aired in November 1979 on News 8, they helped people decide what club was right for them. So yes it looked like they were having fun—and no doubt they were—but they were giving our viewers valuable information so they wouldn’t have to waste their time.
