Régimen de ocupación marroquí expulsa a delegación canarias del sahara Occidental

Occupied El Aaiún, January 13, 2026 – Moroccan occupation authorities expelled a delegation from the Canary Islands on Tuesday. The delegation, comprised of Carmelo Ramírez, Councilor for Institutional Cooperation and International Solidarity of the Gran Canaria Island Council; Noemí Santana Perera, Member of the Spanish Congress; and Fernando Ruiz Pérez, Secretary of Communication for Podemos Canarias, was prevented from disembarking at El Aaiún airport, the capital of the occupied territories of Western Sahara. The delegation was traveling to conduct an observation mission on the human rights situation of the Sahrawi people and to meet with activists and families of political prisoners in the occupied territories. According to statements from those affected, Moroccan forces forced them to remain on the plane and immediately sent them back, without even allowing them to go down to the tarmac. This action is part of Morocco's systematic policy to block access for international observers, journalists, and solidarity delegations, in order to conceal the serious human rights violations it commits against the Sahrawi population: arbitrary arrests, torture, trials without due process, and constant repression against defenders of self-determination. This expulsion occurs within a context of increasing isolation imposed by the Moroccan occupier, which repeatedly closes its doors to any independent witness who could document the reality of the illegal occupation of Western Sahara, a non-self-governing territory pending decolonization according to the UN. Sahrawi human rights organizations strongly condemn this latest aggression and demand that the international community, especially MINURSO, guarantee free access to the occupied territories and put an end to the impunity of the Moroccan regime.
