Through reading, we expand our universe of words. Why does this advice, which seems so obvious, hold a secret? Because: it's not enough to just read anything. You need to read something that effectively expands your vocabulary by introducing new words. Many people read a lot, read many books, and complain that they don't see this growth. The reason is simple: the books they read contain words they already know. And it becomes impossible to learn something new when the book doesn't have that to teach. There are entertainment books, in which the words are already chosen so as not to bore the reader. If your goal is to expand your vocabulary, you'll have to move on to other readings. You'll have to read texts that challenge you a little more. Texts that take you out of your comfort zone. In our daily lives, we get used to reading simple sentences and also writing in a simple way, which is basically how we speak in everyday speech. So it's interesting to draw inspiration from readings that show you other ways of writing. Here, in addition to expanding your word count, the issue of sentence construction also comes into play. A book that's a little more challenging will offer sentences constructed in a way you're not used to. As you get used to reading more elaborate sentences, your writing will become richer. Furthermore, if you want to improve your writing, you should actually practice writing. You can practice on social media, for example. When posting on Facebook or Instagram, try to develop a longer-term thought process, applying what you've already seen. Here's a piece of advice I always give: when studying, consistency is most important. Sometimes the progress is slow, but the important thing is not to stop. Instead of putting off practicing your writing until once a month, try incorporating it into your daily routine. When posting on Facebook or Instagram, instead of writing a one- or two-line sentence, put in a little more effort and write a paragraph. It could be about something you're thinking about, a reflection, a topic of the week, a piece of news—there's no shortage of ideas. If you can stop sometimes and write a complete text, an essay, wow, even better! But we know how busy life is. If all you can do right now is write a paragraph a day, that will already be progress. What you can't do is stand still. You can compare language development to going to the gym. When you're sedentary and start doing physical activity, the beginning is always a bit painful because your muscles aren't used to it. Then, gradually, you can increase the weights. Is there any point in always doing the same workout? No, of course not. The same thing happens with our language. If you only allow yourself to read and write the basics, progress won't happen. Reading should respect your own pace and evolve gradually. In the world of doctrine, there are authors who have a more elaborate style and others who strive to write more fluidly. ------------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL INFORMATION ------------------------------------------------------------------ This channel aims to talk about Law and Study Techniques.
