CAPITAL SHOWBAND MASTER
Turloughmore produced more than good hurlers in the sixties, as proved by the Kelly family from Ballyglass. Des, John and sister Bernie formed the Quicksilver Dance Band in the late fifties. Des put together the legendary Capital Showband in 1960. Included in the lineup with Des and Johnny were Butch Moore, Paddy Cole, Jimmy Hogan, Don Long, Paul Sweeney, and Eamon Monaghan. Complete with white shoes, white slacks and blue blazers they criss crossed the country during the show band era and had a number of number one hits including The Street of Baltimore and the Black Velvet Band.
