DEFENCE TRAINING - HOW TO HINGE
This is a hinge play in the neutral zone to support your d partner. After making a d to d pass you want to, as a supporting DMAN, be available for a pass back from your D partner. The key is to be low enough that F1 can't get in your passing lane and around the centre dot lane so its harder for F1 to get a stick in the lane. If you are too close to your partner then it's easy for F1 to re-attack but if your too far over F1 can still get in the passing lane. It is similar to a drop pass where the puck is laid into space for the hinged D partner.
