Kürtçe konuşan Lazların köyü

In the 1960s, due to the landslide risk in Trabzon, many families from Trabzon were settled in the villages of Emek and Dönerdere in the Özalp district of Van. The families, who were very satisfied with their lives there, built a new life for themselves in the predominantly Kurdish region. The Laz people of Van, who cheerfully recount how they were told "The Kurds have arrived" when they went to the Black Sea and "The Laz have arrived" when they returned to Van, brought their culture with them. The Laz and Kurds in the region, where cultural exchange has been established, continue to live in peace.
