Setting fielding to auto is neccessary to getting the full enjoyment out of this game. With auto fielding on you still have control of your jumps, dives and throws. My brother and I played this more then any other video game growing up and by a wide margin. For three years we seemingly played Sports Talk Baseball everyday day of our lives. Numerous full seasons, meticulously tracking player stats in our notebooks. We played Blue Jays vs A's our respective favorite teams 99% of the time. Both teams were really good and a pretty fair match up. Sports Talk Baseball finally took a temporary backseat in mid/late 1995 when we bought the jaw dropping (at the time) World Series Baseball 95' for Genesis.
