Back on Our Feet: Pressing Olives, Harvesting Walnuts & Rooster Farewell in Sicily

Well, friends, we’re BACK! After what felt like the longest bout with Covid, Beth and I are finally feeling human again – and boy, did we have work waiting for us! In today’s episode, we’re catching up on everything that happened while we were down for the count. We managed to rally and bring in our olive harvest, got them pressed into beautiful Sicilian olive oil, and harvested our walnut crop. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of pressing your own olives after months of watching those little buggers grow! We also tackled some much-needed odd jobs around the farmhouse – you know, all those little projects that pile up when you’re an expat renovating an abandoned Sicilian farm. Like concrete. And in perhaps the most bittersweet moment of the week, we brought our roosters to our neighbor Nadia’s place. Let’s just say they’re about to star in a very traditional coq au vin… circle of life on the farm 🫤 It feels SO good to be back in action and sharing our expat adventures with you. From olive groves to farmhouse living, this is what rural Sicily is all about. Thanks for sticking with us through our recovery – we couldn’t do this without your support! 🫒🌰🐓
