Handwoven Kitchen Towels - Handmade Home Decor - Loom Woven 100% Cotton Towels for Home & Bath!
I make several batches of these handwoven towels throughout the year. Customers just love them! They are 100% cotton and so incredibly soft! These are great in the kitchen as tea towels, hand towels, bread towels, and even place mats. They are equally great in the bathroom as hand towels. I don't do as many of the videos on weaving because they take so incredibly long from start to finish. Whether I'm doing rugs or towels or something else, I'll put as much warp on as my loom (or warp board) can hold. For my larger floor looms, I stick with 14 yards. For my table loom, I can go a max of 5 yards. In this video I'm going through the majority of the process in making these. I'll start with measuring out the 204 ends on the warp board, and then on to warping the loom itself. Since I am using a repeat pattern, I will just tie the ends on to what was left from the previous batch. There are several ways to warp a loom, so if you do or have seen something different, that is okay! If I'm starting completely from scratch, then I have to go through the steps of threading the heddles and reed. You can see a FULL video of me doing that with some big rugs in this video. • Woven Rugs from Scratch - How It's Made Once I am done dressing the loom, the fun part finally starts - the actual weaving! It takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to weave one towel. I depends on the pattern as well as how thick the yarn is. The thicker the weft (yarn that I'm weaving through the warp) the faster it goes. The thinner yarn takes longer. I will weave just a few passes of filler yarn between each one. I used a GoPro to record everything on a timelapse; unfortunately, both of our GoPros like to reset and lose videos! Ugh. So the part where I take it off the loom and sew them is gone. However, you can see that part in the video I posted above. I'll have to do this again to show that part! But, you do get to see how they are fresh off the loom as well as when they are fresh out of the wash - nicely pliable and soft! You can find me on IG - @willowtreeweaving.soaperie Shop Online!
