​Drolma Bum (སྒྲོལ་མ་འབུམ།): The term Drolma refers to Jetsun Dolma (the Goddess Tara, a female Buddha of compassion and swift action). Bum literally means one hundred thousand (100,000). Therefore, Drolma Bum is a mega-spiritual event dedicated to the accumulation of 100,000 recitations of the Praises to the Twenty-One Taras. ​Mukto Connection: This is a major annual event in the Mon region (Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh), which It is organized to invoke blessings for world peace, well-being, and to clear away obstacles for the community. ​Pre-Motivation (Lharong/Motivation): In Vajrayana Buddhism, a recitation cannot begin without setting the proper Bodhicitta (motivation) spiritual guides like Jampa Jamyang establish this "pre-motivation" to ensure that the massive undertaking of 100,000 recitations is done purely for the benefit of all sentient beings, rather than for selfish reasons. ​In short, the pre-motivation by the Lamas sets the spiritual foundation, and the collective chanting at Mukto brings the 100,000 recitations of Tara (Drolma Bum) to life!
