Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom - Live in San Francisco
Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom - San Francisco, Live, Thurs. 7-19-12, 1st row, Great American Music Hall. That beer Chris Collingwood was drinking was non-alcoholic (Clausthaler). Never did find out who 'That Guy' was.. :P Other Tidbits: During 'Radiation Vibe', the last song of the set, guitarist Jody Porter started having problems with his guitar effects pedal board. The sound tech guy tried to fix it by disconnecting and reattaching the cables but had no success. Since FoW's medley version of 'Radiation Vibe' is ~10 mins long Jody gradually got more frustrated and ended up kicking the pedal board a few times until some of the reverb and overdrive units were knocked off. Later, at ~7:21, Jody kneeled down, picked up the entire guitar effects pedal board about 3 feet high with 2 hands, then ceremoniously dropped it on the stage. Unfortunately, the sound techs were not able to fix the problem before the encore, so Jody decided to just plug his guitar directly into the speaker. Lead singer Chris Collingwood told the audience that they were just in Japan 24 hours ago and were extremely jet lagged. He also told us how the interviewers in Japan didn't quite speak enough English, recounting how one interviewer's first question was "do you like playing festivals?" (Chris said 'yes') followed by "how do you like playing festivals?" My guess is that the interviewer meant to ask how they liked playing 'this' festival, which was the Nano--Mugen Festival 2012 in Yokohama. Also, as a result of FoW just coming back from Japan, the band's gear had not yet arrived, so they were playing on borrowed equipment. Bassist Adam Schlesinger humorously told the audience that they gave him the 'Sting Precision Bass' guitar, so he may break out playing some Police songs. And Adam did do that a few times, playing the first few bass lines of 'Walking on the Moon'. Setlist: 1. Bought For A Song 2. It Must Be Summer 3. Someone To Love 4. Denise 5. Red Dragon Tattoo 6.
