Pure Salmon Japan, headquartered in Tokyo, is planning to expand this land-based aquaculture facility globally. We ensure the optimal environment by maintaining the most suitable water temperature and quality for the fish." Everything from hatching to processing is done in the factory. Here, they've introduced a "closed-loop recirculating" aquaculture system that filters and reuses water. This eliminates the need to bring in seawater, making it easier to manage water temperature and quality, and ensuring stable production. (Kuhara-san) "These are the trays for hatching the eggs. The factory is scheduled to begin operations on May 7th. Why Tsu City? The Ise-Shima Summit was the catalyst. But why exactly did they decide to build in Tsu City? President Emed, originally from Turkey, noticed the popularity of salmon in Japan. While searching for a suitable location for a salmon farm, he met with then-governor of Mie Prefecture, Hideyuki Suzuki, during the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit. At that time, he determined that establishing a base in Tsu City would allow them to contribute to the prefecture's industrial development while also creating sales channels close to Nagoya and Osaka, which he considered advantageous. World's Largest Land-Based Aquaculture Facility Aimed for Completion by End of 2027 (President Emed) "We are operating under the assumption that the price will likely not be higher than imported Norwegian salmon.
