These small, colorful, songbirds are true travelers, undertaking migrations of up to 3,000 kilometers between the south and north of South America. In this video, you'll learn the secrets of these friendly birds of the genus Sporophila, of the family Thraupidae. In Brazil, there are 32 species of this genus, 12 of which are popularly known as seedeaters. Seedeaters are 8 to 12 cm long, with vibrantly colored males and females with uniform brown plumage, making visual identification difficult. Despite their size, these birds migrate long distances, such as the gray-capped seedeater (Sporophila cinnamomea), which crosses South America in search of food and resting places. During the breeding season, from November to February, most species settle in southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. At the end of the season, they migrate to the Cerrado, in the central-west and southeast of Brazil, where they spend the winter. #insiderstore #planetaaves #avesdacaatinga #BlackFriday2024 #BlackFridayInsider #LoucosPorConforto #InsiderUnderwearPromo #ClothingTechnology Script and Editing: Willian Menq Images: Willian Menq and Jéssica Menq
