After more than 36 months of design, including 24 months of construction, Gitana 18 began her life at sea, accompanied by a large crowd of offshore racing enthusiasts who had turned out in force. This major milestone marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of a great story. With this new revolutionary maxi-trimaran - a pioneer of a new generation of flying giants - Charles Caudrelier and the members of the Gitana Team are setting an ambitious course for the year ahead: to be fully ready to defend their title at the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. And given the complexity of the latest addition to the Gitana fleet, the challenge promises to be a demanding one. Exactly eight months from now, on November 1, the legendary single-handed transatlantic race will set sail from Saint-Malo.
