Inside EX-MFM Pastor, BAWURA's CRAZY LIES + Secret of His Twist & Turn Drama
Sunday Baruwa Olowoyeye, a former pastor with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) is in a cul-de-sac. Even in his wildest imagination, he probably never anticipated that destiny would play such a tricky game with his life. He set out as a promising young man, fueled by zeal and a passion to do the work of the Lord. Along the way, however, he became entangled in a web of legal intricacies that have left him utterly confounded. Today, his prospects seems bleak. A frustrated Olowoyeye is now running from pillar to post, making spurious allegations in a desperate bid for survival. In the process, he is dragging names through the mud and biting the very fingers that once fed him. Olowoyeye joined MFM early in life and was well on his way to becoming one of the ministry's valued pastors. At the time, he was unmarried. Believing he possessed immense grace, the church leadership felt it was improper for him to remain single. Before long, a wife was arranged for him, and a family life was foisted upon him. He was only about 22 years old when he married, a time when he knew very little about the institution of marriage. Unsurprisingly, the marriage collapsed a few years later like a pack of badly arranged cards. However, the failed marriage was not the root cause of his current crisis. While Olowoyeye claims to have served the Lord diligently and worked for the Church for 29 Years, his employers had reasons to doubt his sincerity. He was eventually expelled from the ministry in 2005. Prior to his expulsion, he claimed to have helped establish several parishes, becoming a darling of the church and training many subordinates—one of whom has since risen to the rank of Regional Overseer. Unfortunately, alleged involvement in murky activities severely tarnished his integrity, leading to his dismissal. That marked the beginning of his downward spiral. Rather than sulking quietly, he chose to expose the church in the media. In the Year 2021, Bawura engaged a blogger, Maureen Badejo to escalate the matter in order to generate public sympathy. The move worked initially; MFM's reputation was dragged through the mud, and many sympathized with Pastor Bawura, believing he was unjustly dismissed. Yet, this strategy would only complicate his situation further. Just as he was basking in public sympathy, the police came for him. He was arrested one early morning in the Surulere area of Lagos State where he was hiding away from the prying eyes of the church. His phone had been tracked to pin him in that locality. He was subsequently put in detention which the court later declared as illegal. He was allegedly assaulted and tortured before he was taken to Alagbon Police Station in Lagos State where he was locked up for 16 days without trial which is against the spirit of Section 35 (1) and Section 41 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was during this period of custody that he was allegedly coerced into retracting all his allegations against MFM. The church had allegedly promised him N10 million if he renounced his claims about the church, a deal he finally accepted after an initial refusal. Following his release from detention, General Overseer Pastor Daniel Olukoya reportedly gave him N300,000 instead of the promised N10 million. A sum of N500,000 was paid, after which the financial support ceased entirely. Olowoyeye made numerous appeals and demands for the church to fulfill its initial pledge, but he made no headway. Spurred by these unfulfilled promises, he dragged Pastor Olukoya to court, claiming damages. The lawsuit (Suit No. 16452MFHR/23) was heard at the Ikeja Judicial Division of the High Court of Lagos. Judgment was delivered on May 31, 2024. After several legal arguments, the trial judge, Hon. Justice D.T. OLATOKUN, declared his arrest unlawful. The court ordered the Superintendent of Police, Tawose Ayoleyi and the Nigeria Police Force to pay Pastor Bawura N4 million in compensation for his 16-days illegal detention, alongside a formal letter of apology in two National Newspapers. The court made no adverse orders against Pastor Olukoya or MFM siding with his counsel, Davidson Adejuwon argument that Bawura's suit lacks substantive subject matter and procedural jurisdiction to stand before the court. Since the judgment, Olowoyeye's life has not improved. He has not received the compensation, his finances have nosedived, and life has become increasingly difficult. This broadast is done to correct some of his new lies as a result of alleged mischief and inducement by his former tormentors. . Find out more in this clip. Enjoy!
