However, Uisang was a monk who followed the path of Buddhist teachings, so he could not accept Seonmyo’s love. Facing a love that could never be fulfilled, Seonmyo fell into deep sorrow. But her heart did not turn into resentment. Instead, it became a sincere prayer to protect the one she loved. According to the legend, Seonmyo threw herself into the sea and became a dragon, protecting the sea route as Monk Uisang returned to Silla. Her spirit of protection is also connected to the legend of the founding of Buseoksa Temple, and she remains a symbol of devotion, faith, and love that goes beyond personal desire. This song tells the story of Lady Seonmyo’s unfulfilled love, and how that love became a dragon and remained as a thousand-year guardian, expressed through Donnamu’s unique folklore trot style.
